Hi I am Dr Kathryn Stoltzfus. I am a small animal veterinarian living in the northeast. I was educated in the UK and came to the US to pursue an internship and ended up settling here.
I have practiced on large and small animals for the last 20 years and still love what I do every day. Now I regularly work with cats and dogs, but have an avid interest in the human-animal bond. I recently finished an MBA to add business skills to my clinical skills, this helps me see the ways we can offer veterinary care more cost effectively for pet owners.
We all know that pets provide health benefits, from decreasing blood pressure to making us get out of bed in the morning, but we also need to recognise the potential for zoonosis ( diseases that pass from animals to humans) and make sure our pets are healthy. The One Health Initiative aims to increase collaboration between those serving human medicine, animal medicine and the environment as a worldwide strategy to improve the health of everyone.
There is so much information about animal health care out there, but I hope to offer an unbiased (well maybe there will be my bias in there a little) source of information for you – the pet owner, to make the best decisions.
There is so much negative information about veterinarians (you know I am talking about you consumer reports) but we rank high in integrity/honesty according the Gallup polls.
I hope to pass on some of this honesty.
